Hey, the time is growing short. I turned 59, and you know that from the first breath I took, life has been Rock and Roll.
I’m rockin’ until I take my last breath, death can wait, I’m livin’ life to the fullest, unforgiven, but I’m singin’ my song, it’s a dirty way to live, but I’ve been here all along.
Now I stand here, not a penny to my name, but you know I’m gonna keep rockin’ until I take my last breath. Death is gonna have to wait until I’m ready; nobody sold me on greener pastures; I stood in the mud in the pouring rain. Yeah, I paid my dues, but I stayed true to myself.
Now I stand here, not a penny to my name, but you know I’m gonna keep rockin’ until I take my last breath. Death is gonna have to wait until I’m ready.
I’ve worn my scars like badges of pride; every note I play is my battle cry. In the mud with the memories that haunt, but I keep on strummin’, that’s what I want. Don’t need the gold, don’t need the fame, just a guitar and a spark to light the flame.
Now I stand here, not a penny to my name, but you know I’m gonna keep rockin’ until I take my last breath. Death is gonna have to wait until I’m ready.
So, here’s to the years, let the story unfold, with every strum, I’ll keep fighting the cold. I’m 59, but I’m young at the core, rockin’ this life, who could ask for more? Yeah, rockin’ ‘til the end, that’s my decree, the spirit of the music will always set me free!
