Burn Bright

When all your life comes flooding in like a flash, do you sink or swim?

Like a river overflowing and breaking the levee are you free as a bird or chained to a boulder? When all the love you had is dried up and blowin’ in the wind is it the end or is it just another beginning?

Isn’t that a bitch when life has left you twitching from all the living you did, isn’t that a bitch when you open your eyes and you’re old, barely breathing, and wondering how you got here? Take a step back, look at your life, and smile baby, you may be down on your luck but why give a fuck? You lived your life to the fullest so cry if you must but trust me, girl, even if you die broke and unknown you rode hard and made life your own, so smile girl because baby you are the greatest, you are timeless, and you are fine as wine, hang your head but don’t you dare take a bow because you are the one they couldn’t break, you earned your name so go ahead and shine on even if the only darkness you light up is yours burn bright until the fire goes out.

Now I’m scratching to stay alive, having trouble paying my bills, having trouble walking, having trouble seeing straight, having trouble talking aint this a bitch all the dues I paid and all the scars aint worth a cent but I have to remember I lived my life to the fullest so I’ll cry if  I must but trust me, even if I die broke and unknown I rode hard and made life my own, so I’ll smile because baby I am the greatest, I am timeless, and I am fine as wine, I may hang my head but I won’t dare take a bow because I am the one they couldn’t break, I earned my name so I’ll go ahead and shine on even if the only darkness I light up is mine, yeah! I’ll burn bright until the fire goes out.
