Laws of Wicced
V25. We believe an Intersexed Type 2(Transgender) person that is of legal age has the right to decide the gender/sex on their Identification card, birth certificate, and paperwork including their Social Security card without surgery.
Today, we delve into the rights of our intersexed brothers and sisters, specifically those who identify as Type 2, commonly known as transgender individuals.
In this modern age, where progress and enlightenment guide our path, we must recognize the fundamental right of every individual to determine their own gender identity. We believe that an intersexed Type 2 person, who has reached the age of legal adulthood, should have the autonomy to choose the gender or sex displayed on their identification documents, including their birth certificate, identification card, and even their Social Security card, without being bound by surgical requirements.
We acknowledge that gender is not solely defined by biology, but rather a deeply personal and internal sense of self. Our faith teaches us the importance of embracing diversity and celebrating the rich tapestry of identities that make up our world. Just as we respect and honor each individual's journey of self-discovery, we must extend that respect to our intersexed siblings.
By allowing individuals to determine their own gender identity on official documents, we promote inclusivity and respect for every person's truth. We create a society where one's identity is not constrained by societal norms or medical procedures. Instead, we forge a path that leads to greater acceptance, understanding, and harmony.
Now, I understand that this concept may challenge some of our deeply ingrained beliefs. Change can be uncomfortable, especially when it questions the status quo. But our faith teaches us to be open-minded, to seek truth, and to embrace compassion for all. We are called to be a beacon of light in this world, to extend love and understanding to those who have been marginalized or misunderstood.
In supporting the rights of intersexed individuals to determine their gender identity on official documents without surgery, we are not just advocating for a legal change. We are affirming the inherent worth and dignity of every human being. We are standing up against discrimination and oppression, and we are paving the way for a more inclusive and accepting society.
Let us remember the teachings of our founders, who embraced diversity and challenged the norms of their time. Just as Dr. Sarah Schultheiss founded a religion that combines various traditions and philosophies, we too can build bridges of understanding and acceptance. Let us be known as a congregation that champions equality, love, and justice for all.
May we find the strength within ourselves to challenge our own biases and preconceptions. May we extend our hearts and minds to our intersexed siblings, welcoming them with open arms and affirming their right to self-identify. Together, let us create a world where every person, regardless of their gender identity, can live authentically and without fear.
Let us continue to walk this path of love and understanding together, guided by the light of compassion and acceptance.
